Term 3, week 4
We have had an incredibly busy week, with so many activities taking place, both indoors and out. The week started with snow, which is always a bonus! Unfortunately, the residents who now have keys to the garden, had been in on Sunday and used most of the snow to build snowmen, such a shame when they have gardens of their own and lots of open spaces nearby, but hey ho. Our children still really enjoyed themselves making snowballs etc from said snowmen! We had an entire day outside making the most of what was left of the snow and ice, making amazingly colourful creations directly in the snow using pipettes and food colouring.
Other groups have really enjoyed colour mixing, on a large scale outside, using tubes, guttering, powder paint and copious amounts of water to explore. The hobbit house has been a welcome warming spot for all of the groups throughout the week!
Inside we have continued our colour mixing explorations during mono-printing activities, the children have used sponge rollers to layer paint to see what colours emerge, great fun. We have extended our knowledge of instruments, tempo, volume and movement during some focussed music sessions. Lisa has run some wonderful mindfulness and meditation classes for small groups of children throughout the week. Clay continues to be very popular, we have extended the sessions with lots of different tools and resources for the children to help themselves to, encouraging independent choice.
We have also introduced a self-registration door where each morning the children can find their name and move it to a beautiful oak tree. :)
Happy weekend everyone x
