Our Staff

This is the Acorns team. We have a great mix of strengths and skills to ensure we offer all of our children the broadest range of activities possible. With over 30 years experience there's very little we can't cope with!
Dena Moore

Dena has a BA(Hons) in Early Childhood Studies. Dena has a level eight in Makaton signing. She also holds a level one Theraplay accreditation, and runs regular nurture groups in Acorns. As well as being the pre-school leader Dena is the settings Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator and is responsible for Behavioural Management. 


Dena worked part time for Bath and North East Somerset early years team as an Area Senco practitioner for five years, supporting settings across Banes. She brings her experience of this role to support the children in Acorns.

Previously Dena was a dancer. Before becoming the leader in Acorns she ran her own children’s dance school in Bath, she really enjoys watching the children’s confidence grow throughout the year, culminating in the Acorns show at the end of the year.

Dena works full time, she tries hard to be with the children for three full days per week (although office bits and bobs sometimes get in the way!)

She is married to Dan and has three children, two daughters and a son, and two Grandsons!

Sam Beattie

Sam is our Forest school leader. She holds a level three Early Years accreditation and is a level three Forest School practitioner. Sam has a level four in Makaton signing. Sam works closely with Dena to ensure the smooth running of Acorns.

Sam previously lived in Italy as a ski instructor amongst other things, she speaks fluent Italian, she is an excellent cook and she makes us all laugh! Sam loves working with our amazing outdoor environment, encouraging the children’s natural exploratory nature when working outside.


Sam works Monday – Thursday all day.

Sam has three daughters.

Pip Weaver

Pippa holds a level three Early Years and Education accreditation. Pip is a bit of a computer whizz and leads different ICT based activities with the children. She is particularly interested in the well being of the children and pastoral care. Pip is a fantastic singer, and runs regular music activities.


Pip works a three day week (Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday).

Pip has two boys.
