Term 4, week 3

The sun is shining at last and we are starting to be able to spend more time outdoors in larger groups, happy days!

This week the children have tested their core strength by using monkey bars the forest school team have set up in-between the trees. They have really enjoyed challenging themselves to move from rung to rung, using their strength and a bit of swinging momentum to move across. It's great to see the children working hard and gaining confidence as they try this challenge repeatedly. They have also been climbing trees, building see-saws and balancing beams; testing their physical skills, alongside problem solving, spatial awareness and team work. Spring is everywhere we look in the Acorns garden, the children have been on spring walks and are able to identify the different flowers appearing all around them.

Inside, the children have made their own pizzas, all plant based; good for the environment and good for animals! We hope they enjoyed them. Wet play day saw a reintroduction of 'prov' tub. The children enjoyed movement, yoga and gymnastics on the mats. They had a great time exploring the resources, using them to role-play, exploring sound and inventing many different things. Small groups of children have enjoyed a listening game, board games, clay, painting and much more.

Have a great weekend everyone, see you next week.

Dena xx
